BENJAMIN MOOREPAINTS/QUALITY HARDWARE CONTRIBUTES
ECO FRIENDLY PAINT TO SHELTERS OF SARATOGA
Benjamin Moore Paints via Saratoga Quality hardware has donated 40 gallons of Aura Interior Paint to Shelters of Saratoga (SOS) for the interior of a building newly acquired by SOS designed to provide Transitional Living.
The retail value of this donation is $2,280. Benjamin Moore Aura Paint contains less than 50 parts per liter of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), far less than the federal allowable standard of 150 parts per liter. Aura is a high performing paint that is environmentally safe, low odor and tinted with Benjamin Moore’s patented waterborne colorant technology. This colorant system is zero VOC and unlike other zero VOC paints on the market allows Benjamin Moore’s Aura to be tinted in any color desired without adding any VOCs at retail.
“SOS has an interest in going ‘green’ and providing the healthiest possible environment for those we serve,” said John Penzer, Executive Director of SOS. “We are deeply appreciative of Benjamin Moore and Saratoga Quality Hardware’s generosity and community spirit.” Penzer continued.
“We recognize the critical work performed in the community by SOS,” said Bill Eddy, owner of Saratoga Quality hardware, and we want to assist them in driving their mission to help the homeless and at-risk homeless through their rich continuum of programs.
“Saratoga Quality also contributes other materials to SOS on a regular basis,” Eddy continued. “We see this as a healthy community sponsorship and it is consistent with our policy to enhance the community by sponsoring baseball teams and through other means.”
SOS provides an eighteen-bed shelter for men and women; a Rapid Rehousing program; an Emergency Repair Program, allowing individuals to remain in their homes and a Neighborhood Preservation Program. SOS will soon be implementing a Transitional Living Program, which will allow individuals to gain necessary stabilization for up to eighteen months. There are also active plans to build new apartments, which will also be devoted to Transitional Living.
